Park meeting...notice Havilah not paying attention.
...lots of children and parents!
Havilah (with her bracelet) ran through the sprinklers before and after the park meeting.
We handed out bracelets after the meeting (with gold, black, red, white, and green beads). Everyone wanted one, so it was a great way to share the Gospel!
We had a street meeting, and were able to share the Gospel with several people!
I took Havilah and Angie out to the park one day to hand out VBS flyers. It was a super hot day, so when we were done, we all ran through the sprinkler and got ice cream on our way back!
VBS!
We got a care package from one of our supporting churches (Pleasantville Baptist Church). They sent us a bunch of things to use for kids meetings in the park. It was a complete surprise to us! God worked the timing out perfectly, because we had a kids meeting planned for 3 days after we got the package! We were able to use the wordless books, bracelets, and candy they sent to us to hand out to all the kids! It was such a blessing!
Thank you so much for praying for the teen WAR. We had about 45 teens come out. Daniel did a great job running the WAR! For more pictures, check out nyset.wordpress.com
“…But God gave the increase.” There were about 9 decisions at VBS last week and 8 in the teen WAR!We had a great week in Yonkers working with HudsonViewBaptistChurch! The NYSET team was busy throughout the week in the parks inviting teens out to the War, passing out tracts and witnessing in the neighborhoods. We passed out over 1,200 flyers, 1,000 tracts and a few hundred John and Romans. We were so excited to hear from a missionary that we met on deputation who is in Peru this summer. He got our update last week and emailed us on Friday to tell us that he was praying for the WAR. That was such a blessing and we really saw God do a great work. About 45 teens showed up and 8 got saved! Please pray for HVBC as they follow-up on these children and teens, as well as prepare for another teen war on August 13th!
We are working with MemorialBaptistChurch in Brooklyn this week (July 18th-23rd). Yesterday was the first night of their Summer Adventure Club. The attendance was small, so we are praying for many more children. Please pray with us for this Park Slope neighborhood in Brooklyn. There is a great disinterest in spiritual things here. One example was on Sunday when Daniel was out with a group handing out tracts, and a man who told him that he should be ashamed of himself for having children hand out tracts! “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ!” We were reminded this week from Pastor Christopher that “unless God does it, it doesn’t get done!”
Thank you so much for praying for us! We are so excited to be serving the Lord!
We are so excited about our week in Brooklyn! We stayed at MemorialBaptistChurch in Park Slope, which is the church we will be working with when we first move to the city. One exciting night for the NYSET team was Monday. The team passed out tracts and witnessed to people in Times Square till 2:30am—there were still thousands of people out!
We spent all day Wednesday in BrightonBeach, Little Russia. This very spiritually blind area is predominantly Jewish and Russian Orthodox. Even with the extreme heat, there were still many people out on the streets to share the Gospel with. Thursday morning, we spent a couple of hours handing out John and Romans at a subway stop during rush hour. We handed out over 2,500 copies!
Please pray for us this week at HudsonViewBaptistChurch in Yonkers! Daniel is running the VBS in the mornings as well as preparing for the Teen War on Friday night. Pray for his health as he is getting over a very bad cold. We will also be handing out John and Romans in the neighborhood and doing several work projects for the church. We are very excited about ministering here in Yonkers this week. Havilah is definitely enjoying our time here and having a blast at VacationBibleSchool!
