A Name for Baby Klaus???

We have a couple of ideas for names, but probably won't pick one until he is born. Does anyone have any more suggestions for us???

I have always liked the name Titus. And I think it means "defender", which I kind of like. So...I vote for Titus!

I actually love that name and it is on my list. But, Fred and Melissa also have that name on their list, because they are having a boy too. :)

Whoever has the baby first, gets the name. Do I get some sort of prize if you use the name Titus? How about a trip to NYC? Sounds like a good idea to me.

Well, if that's what it takes to get you to come visit me in NYC! :)

I`m totally thinking Titus for Baby Kusik...sounds like a Roman soldier! I think it fits with Zara!Grandma Mary likes Quin. I`m still liking Theo and call him Teddy. But I do love Daniel too =)

Theo? Teddy? Oh my....I do not even have any kids and I can come up with better names than that! Elijah? Kind of matches with Havilah. One of my favorite NT characters is Epaphras, but the name itself...not so sure. Same with Barnabas.

OK, here is the deal. You name the kid Titus, and I REALLY give myself a weekend in NYC with the Klauses this summer. Do we have a deal?

If I second Ricci's name...(becuase I REALLY REALLY like that name) can I go with Ricci to NYC??? ;)
but my own suggestion is Elliot. I love that name.... :)

Okay sorry to burst the bubble! But Ian is the best name so far and they both like it. I think Teddy/Theo is awful, and sorry Grandma Quinn sounds like a chicks name.
I actually don't mind Titus, but definitely think it goes better with Zara, it's more Freddy like.
Ricci's other names aren't bad, Elijah is sweet! :-)

I like Elijah and I do think it goes noce with Hava!!! OK I am persuaded...now how about the Klaus`

I vote Quintin James. ...because it sounds cool.

I just HAD to get involved in this...so many neat names were mentioned. But, I really like Elliot; and Christopher- look up the meanings.

I`m so glad you joined us Kathy! I Like Christopher!

This name game is kind of fun.

Now..if we are talking coolness factor...Titus and Elijah are definitely cooler than Elliott.

Character factor...they both say, "I am going to stand for and defend the truth." And those are the kind of boys we need. May this new little Klaus be, by the grace of God, that kind of boy.

I am praying for you.

Wow! Thanks for all the great ideas! I can't believe how hard it is to pick a name!

...so no one likes Anton???

I don't think the meaning of a name should have much bearing on your choice. How a person lives their life will give meaning to their name, not the other way around.
After all, Havilah literally means "stretch of sand" in Hebrew, but it sounds pretty. Go with a name that you like the sound of...because you'll be hearing it everyday for the rest of your life.

Anton? Would we call him Ant for short? Kind of iffy. Always have to remember how his peers would use his name, believe me, with a name like Ernst life can be kind of tough;) What's wrong with a nice astronomical name like Orion? Rhymes with Ryan, Dan's middle name.

Ricci said...

I am really enjoying this.

I do not vote for Anton.

Mr. Klaus, you are right about considering how peers will use the name. Growing up with a "boy" name was not always fun, I know, so it is something to think about.

And to get...philosophical....I am beginning to think that names somehow..have an influence... on the person the name is given to.

Also, I do not see how it can be a bad idea to give a child a name that has a positive meaning and/or is given due to the good example of others with the same name (biblical or otherwise).

Top that off with a cool sounding name like Titus or Elijah, and you are all set! Titus = NYC here I come!

I`m totally with you Ricci, the meaning is important...stop fighting this "warior woman" =) and Erny is right about Ant, however they would probably call him Tony(the nickname for Anton) and Grandpa Tony(Anton) might leave him all his inheritance, which could include a couple hundred accordians =0)Lets go new with Isaiah!

Just thought I'd join in on all the fun! :) Here's a few more names to add to your list...I've always loved the name Silas Luke...or just Silas, but I think Luke goes well with it. :) Another option is Nehemiah.

Ricci said...

The thought of an inheritance of accordions is tempting, but I am not sure it is totally persuading.

I do like the new ideas of Isaiah, Silas, and Nehemiah.

OK, if Britney wins, she takes me to NYC!

Wow this is getting heated! I somewhat agree with everyone. And as the oldest Kusik kid, my opinion should carry some weight! ;-) lol But I do like names that carry a meaning, but it really isn't as important as it used to be. I mean Mags and I, have names that aren't even names in and of themselves, just derivatives. But having a name that can get confused as a girls (ie Quinn) I agree with Ricci. And again Ian is my fav, just putting my 2 cents in! :-) Again!

Mary said...

I like Ian too, and I've heard Havs call him that already, so if your gonna name him somethin else, you should probably tell Havilah!...I have some good names-but I'm keepin them for myself....

Maggy said...

I have to defend Anton...He would actually fit in perfectly in the area of Brooklyn where we will be living. Half of the mafia there are named Tony. Havilah also fits because it's a Jewish neighborhood.
Also, we were thinking Grandpa would probably take us with on his next trip to Slovenia if we named him Anton. :)

I thought of mentioning this before, but Mags beat me to it. I like Tony. Anthony or Anton, but calling him Tony. That or Seth Daniel. But I'm sure that whatever you guys decide, everyone will love it.

Ricci said...

Did you have any idea your question would get such a great response?

OK...so....are you trying to say you WANT this little guy to fit in with the mafioso all around him?

But accordions and trips to Slovenia could be worth it.

Calvin is a good name, but, misfortune, I do not think it goes with Klaus. Calvin Klaus? I don't think so.

Abbey Lange said...

how 'bout Montgomery? you could call him Monty for short....J/K.. ;)
Again, I will say Elliot b/c it sounds VERY distinguished. However, I love Britney's suggestion. :)

Maggy said...

I do love hearing from everyone! Thanks!
Right now, I just want him to come. Then, I can decide on a name. And, anyone who wants can come visit us in the hospital. Hopefully, we'll have a name by then. :)
